How It Works
Small law firms, solo practitioners, and lawyers that practice in Associations, throughout the State of Tennessee, confidentially list their practice for sale with Lawyers Incorporated. This information is kept private because the quickest way to lose clients or to devalue your practice is to let the public know that you are in the process of retiring. Newly licensed attorneys, and attorneys who are looking to purchase a practice, sign a Confidentiality Agreement and meet with a representative of Lawyers Incorporated in order to establish the search parameters of where they want to work, and what type of work they want to do. All prospective buyers must also sign a Confidentiality Agreement whereby they agree not to disclose any information concerning the practice that is being marketed.
Some lawyers who already have several years of experience simply want to buy an existing practice and immediately go to work. Less experienced lawyers, especially those who may have just taken the Bar, prefer to work with an established lawyer for several years in order to be introduced to clients, and to learn the ins and outs of operating a practice before they take over the responsibility of running a law practice on their own. Lawyers Incorporated recognizes there is no “one size fits all” solution to partnering a young lawyer with an experienced lawyer who is in the process of winding down his or her practice.
